AGARTALA:

Day after the government announced allowance of Roman script for Kokborok language examinations of the TBSE, the leader of Opposition and MLA of TIPRA Motha party Animesh Debbarma on Tuesday demanded for publication of Kokborok books in both Roman and Bengali script.

He thanked the government for allowing tribal students to write answers in Roman script for Kokborok language examinations and said that there is a need to amend the TBSE guidelines and ensure Roman and Bengali script for Kokborok language exams in Tripura.

“Amendment of TBSE guidelines to ensure both Roman and Bengali script for Kokborok language exams in Tripura will benefit the next generation,” he said in a press conference here at Agartala.

He also demanded the government for setting up board question papers in both Roman and Bengali script.

“I also demand the government to make Kokborok subject compulsory for all community students of the state. This will help the students of other communities to learn Kokborok language, which perhaps will ease communication, he told reporters.
