The All Tripura Madrassa Teachers Association (ATMTA) on Monday demanded for equal pay for equal work and met in deputation with the director of elementary education
The teachers’ body pressed for a seven point charter of demands in the interest of the teachers as well as of the ‘Madrassa’ education in the state.
“We demand equal pay for equal work as we have seen that the state government has recently announced hike in DA for the government employees starting from cook cum helpers to teachers and other section of employees too, but there has been no such announcement for the Madrassa teachers,” said vice president of the state committee of ATMTA Shah Alam.
Interacting with the reporters on Monday, Shah Alam said, “During the last five years, the government has not passed any single decision in the state cabinet considering the Madrassa teachers of the state.”
The Madrassa teachers who gathered in front of the Directorate of Education demanded provision of salary at par with the salary of regular teachers of the state government including all other facilities provided to the regular employees.
The other demands included appointment of teachers in all vacant posts of SPEMM Madrassas and creation of new posts for smooth running of the Madrassa education system among others.
