Major crackdown against drugs – Heroin worth Rs. 13.8 Cr seized from Dhalai Tripura

In a major crackdown against drugs, the police of Dhalai district of the state seized 3.46 kgs of heroin worth Rs. 13.8 crore from a vehicle in the early morning of Thursday.

Acting on a specific information, a team of police of Dhalai police station led by the SDPO Suman Majumder intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number TR01BU0234 at Naka Point on the National Highway in Dhalai and conducted search in operation to seize the packets of heroin weighing 3.46 kgs, having a market value of around Rs. 13.8 crore, said Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai.

He informed that the two persons detained in connection with the major seizure were identified as Piklu Bhowmik and Mahbul Alam both residents of Boxanagar. The accused were booked under the NDPS Act. Police also detained the vehicle.

The vehicle was supposed to reach the Sepahijala district of the state to unload the drugs picked from the neighbouring Mizoram, he told reporters.
