In a bold operation on Thursday evening officials from the Tripura Police successfully intercepted an Eco car transporting a staggering 91 kilograms of cannabis, believed to be destined for smuggling across the Bangladesh border. The driver, identified as Suman Biswas, was apprehended after a high-speed chase that ended with a dramatic crash into a pond near Rajaram's residence in Piporia Khala area.
The operation was launched based on a tip received by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Belonia, indicating that a shipment of cannabis was en route from Barapatahri Master Para to Srinagar via an Eco car with registration number TR 03-P-0369. Police promptly positioned themselves at a strategic point along the route.
Upon spotting the Eco car officers signaled for it to stop. Instead, the driver chose to accelerate and head towards North Sonaichari, sparking a tense pursuit by the police. The chase continued until the Eco car, driven by Biswas, reached the vicinity of Rajaram's residence, where it ultimately crashed into a pond.
Following the collision officers promptly arrested Suman Biswas the driver of the Eco car. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three significant sacks of marijuana. During questioning, Biswas disclosed that the contraband was the property of Subrata Chakraborty from Barapatahri Master Para, who allegedly instructed him to smuggle it across the Srinagar border into Bangladesh.
