In a shocking incident, a land dispute led to the brutal killing of a couple by their nephew in Bishalgarh sub-division under Sepahijala district late Friday night.
The accused, identified as Achinta Das, allegedly attacked and killed his uncle Bipul Das and aunt Sima Das, while their two minor sons sustained severe injuries.
According to sources, the altercation escalated when Achinta and Bipul got into a heated argument. As Bipul’s wife and sons intervened to pacify the situation, Achinta suddenly launched an attack with a sharp weapon. Bipul died on the spot, while Sima succumbed to her injuries at Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Hospital. Their sons, Kisan Das (18) and Joy Das (16), who sustained critical injuries, are currently undergoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital.
Upon receiving the information, a large team of Tripura Police, led by Sepahijala District Superintendent of Police Bogati Reddy and DIG (Ranges) Ipper Manchak, reached the scene to assess the situation.
DIG Ipper Manchak stated, "The incident took place in Pal Para following a family dispute over land. When police arrived, they found a male victim deceased at the scene, while a female victim succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Their two sons, who were also injured, are receiving medical care. Two persons, including the prime accused Achinta Das and his mother Alpana Das, have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing, and the law and order situation remains under control. No prior criminal records of the accused have been found."
