Prominent poet, writer and cultural personality of Tripura, Manas Debbarman passed away on Monday at the age of 84. Following his passing, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed deep grief.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said, "Late Manas Debbarman was a prominent poet, writer and socially-minded creative personality of the state. Apart from his teaching career in college, he also served with distinction as Chairman of the Tripura Lok Seva Aayog and as a Member of the UPSC. In the death of Manas Debbarman, the state has lost a creative cultural figure and a veteran patron."
The Chief Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Manas Debbarman and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
Later, Dr. Saha visited the Battala Crematorium to pay his last respects to Manas Debbarman. He said, "When I was in MBB College, he was my professor. We also shared a family relationship. He was a poet, writer and cultural personality. We have lost a prominent figure of the state. I pray for his departed soul."
Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury also paid tribute, writing, "Saddened by the news of Manas Debbarman's demise. My heartfelt tribute to an outstanding professor, a polished orator, and a down-to-earth gentleman."
