Agartala Municipal Corporation's Mayor, Dipak Majumder, along with BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and officials from Agartala Smart City Limited (ASCL) and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), visited College Tilla Lake and Drop Gate Island to address the ongoing beautification work and the issue related to the island.
Regarding the beautification work of College Tilla Lake, it is being carried out by ASCL as part of the Agartala Smart City initiative. However, the BBM College authority raised a complaint stating that the boundary wall for the beautification project is encroaching on their property.
Mayor Majumder, acknowledging the complaint, confirmed that the boundary wall had been constructed on the BBM College premises and stated that it would be shifted to a different location. He clarified that although the plots are owned by the government, the wall would be relocated to resolve the dispute.
In addition to the visit to College Tilla Lake, Mayor Majumder also visited Drop Gate Island along with a local councilor. The purpose of this visit was to address complaints regarding difficulties faced by vehicles while taking turns due to the excessive widening of the island's side.
Mayor Majumder assured reporters that appropriate measures would be taken to decrease the concrete space of the island. The aim is to alleviate the problem faced by vehicles when maneuvering around the island, ensuring smoother turns and improved traffic flow.
The visit by Mayor Majumder, along with the involvement of ASCL and AMC officials, demonstrates the local authorities' commitment to resolving issues related to the beautification project at College Tilla Lake and the inconvenience caused by the widened Drop Gate Island. Their efforts aim to enhance the aesthetics of the lake area while ensuring convenience and safety for the community.
