Mayor Dipak Majumder flags off first ever shuttle service from Akhaura ICP for Bangladesh tourists

AGARTALA:

The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder on Friday flagged off the first-ever shuttle service from the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) to Maharaja Bir Bikram airport to facilitate the tourists coming from Bangladesh in Tripura.

The shuttle service is launched to mark the celebration of 11th foundation day of the Land Port of Agartala.

Addressing the event on Friday, the AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder stressed on the enhancement of the connectivity with the neighbouring Bangladesh and said that the influx of tourists from Bangladesh to Tripura has increased due to strengthening bond between the two nations.

He said, “Due to the heavy influx of people from Bangladesh, who land in Tripura to travel to different parts of our country for various purposes, we are benefitted both commercially and financially.”

Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh High Commission Arif Mohammad, BJP legislator Surajit Datta and others also attended the event. A blood donation camp was organised as a part of the event by the BSF.
