Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the 9-day long cultural festival on the occasion of Ratha Yatra festival at Melagarh in Sepahijala district of the state.
Addressing the gathering in the inauguration programme, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that in view of last year’s ‘Ulta Rath’ tragedy, necessary instructions were made to the District Magistrates and other stakeholders to ensure precautionary measures to ensure a peaceful Ratha Yatra festival across the state.
“Rath Yatra roadmap, the height of the chariot, the power supply system, the fire service and the health department have been asked to ensure precautionary measures,” said Dr Saha.
MLA Kishore Barman, MLA Bindu Debnath, Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Chairperson Supriya Das Dutta, Sepahijala District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, and others were present in the programme.
