In a harrowing incident today, a mini school bus belonging to a private school met with a grave accident in the vicinity of Paschim Dewan Pasha Gram Panchayat. The bus, which ferried students to school daily, veered off course towards the adjacent water body, leading to a series of unfortunate events.
Eyewitnesses report that the bus driver had momentarily disembarked to assist a student with unrine when one of the students inadvertently activated the accelerator. This resulted in the bus gaining speed uncontrollably, eventually careening into the nearby water.
In a heroic display of courage, the driver, upon realizing the impending danger, rushed to intercept the runaway bus. Despite managing to catch up to the vehicle, he was unable to halt its trajectory. The bus plunged into the water, causing minor injuries to 6-7 children who were onboard.
Tragically, the bus driver bore the brunt of the impact, sustaining serious injuries in the process. Local residents swiftly mobilized to aid in the rescue efforts, pulling the driver from the submerged bus and promptly alerting the authorities. Fire fighters promptly arrived at the scene, executing a daring rescue operation to extract the injured driver.
The driver has been rushed to Dharmanagar North District Hospital, where medical personnel are battling to stabilize his critical condition. Meanwhile, the children injured in the accident are receiving medical attention, with assurances that their injuries are not severe.
