Minister Santana Chakma attends consultation meeting on proposed tea e-auction centre at Agartala

AGARTALA:

The state industry and commerce minister Santana Chakma on Friday attended the consultation meeting here in a private run hotel to interact with the stakeholders and said that the government has prioritized developing the tea industry of Tripura to grow the state’s economy.

She claimed that the present government has revived the tea industry of Tripura, which was once declined due to lack of planning and development.

Welcoming the representatives of the state and abroad tea estates, tea auctioneers and bidders here in the consultation meeting, the minister said that the tea industry shall play a crucial role in enhancing the state’s economy. The government has taken various initiatives to develop the tea industry and as part of this a plan has been taken to establish a tea e-auction centre here at Agartala, she added.

Director of Industry and Commerce Department Bishwashree B said that there are 54 small and big tea gardens in the state. The government will support any kind of innovative steps in the future for the development of the tea industry in the state, she said.
