The state animal resource development department (ARDD) Sudhangshu Das on Thursday chaired a west Tripura district level review meeting on various developmental schemes under the SC Welfare, ARDD and Fishery department here in the conference hall of the District Magistrate of West Tripura district.
MLA Ratan Chakraborty, MLA Meenarani Sarkar, MLA Sudeep Sarkar, MLA and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, chairpersons of various panchayat societies of the district, chairpersons of various Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Council, West Tripura District Commissioner including DM Dr Vishal Kumar and others were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the minister said that fishery and livestock rearing can make the farmers self-reliant. Government is focused on enhancing the livelihood of the farmers of the state, he said, adding that it should be ensured that the benefits of the various projects and services of these three departments are given to the real beneficiaries.
He said that the government has given priority to fisheries and animal husbandry to generate income opportunities in rural areas. In order to increase the production of fish, all the reservoirs of the district should be made suitable for fish farming and brought under the scope of fish farming, he added.
He also said that the government has also given importance to the production of animal feed. New projects are being brought for this purpose which will play an important role in the economic development of the state in the coming days, he said.
