The Tripura cabinet has given nod for the launch of the state’s own ‘Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana’, aligning with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) aims to provide health insurance coverage to all segments of the state's population in saturation mode, ensuring the security of their healthcare needs.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the civil secretariat, minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that through this scheme, patients will be provided cashless, paperless health insurance benefits. Each family under this scheme will get health insurance benefits up to Rs 5 lakh per annum, he told reporters.
“4.50 lakh families in the state are currently brough under the coverage of the Ayushman Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. Remaining 4.14 lakhs families could not be covered under Ayushman Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. In order to ensure health insurance services to the left-out families, the state government has decided to launch Chief Minister's Jan Arogya Yojana aligning with Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana,” he stated.
The minister said that 10,000 construction workers in the state who are under various insurances under the Labor Department will not come under the Chief Minister's Jan Arogya Yojana. Cabinet members/members including Chief Minister, all levels of government employees including MLAs can also be covered under this scheme. However, in the case of government employees, Group-A and B employees who are getting medical reimbursement have to surrender and Group-C and Group-D employees who are getting medical allowance of Rs 6,000 per annum have to surrender, he added.
