The state transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday distributed dedicated uniform among the drivers of prepaid auto rickshaws here at Agartala MBB Airport and pitched to ensure better transport services for the people of the state and abroad to enhance the tourism sector of the state.
Addressing the programme, the minister said, “The uniform is distributed to enhance the dignity and self-respect of the autorickshaw drivers, engaged in transport services at Agartala MBB Airport.” He urged upon the drivers to build a cordial relation with the passengers of the state and abroad who land in Agartala.
The minister also said that the government is mulling to ensure health insurances for the prepaid auto rickshaw drivers. He also said that the government will continue to distribute uniforms among the drivers every year before Durga Puja.
Secretary of the Department of Transport Uttam Kumar Chakma, DM of West Tripura district Dr. Vishal Kumar, CISF Deputy Commandant Dharam Veer and others were present in the event.
