The mortal remains of the senior most minister of state cabinet N C Debbarma was consigned to flames on Monday at his ancestral home at Maharanipur Nakshiray Para in Teliamura sub-division.
Debbarma, who served as revenue and forest minister in the state cabinet of BJP-IPFT coalition government was given full state honours after which his body was cremated on Monday. Debbarma died at the age of 81 on Sunday after he suffered a cerebral stroke here at Agartala hospital. He was also the founder of Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) regional party which is in alliance with the ruling BJP government.
The family members, relatives of the late minister along with the representatives of various political parties and organisations, MLAs, officials of concerned administration paid their last respect to the late minister while they joined the cremation ceremony. A gun salute was given at the time of the funeral.
The body of Debbarma was taken to the All India Radio of Agartala centre straight from his residence here at Agartala Advisor Chowmuhni, where the officials paid their last respects by offering wreaths to the body of the late minister. N C Debbarma also served as director of the Akashvani, Agartala.
Latre, the body was taken to the premises of the state legislative assembly, where the Assembly speaker Ratan Chakraborty, MLAs of ruling and opposition political parties paid their last respects.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accompanied by the council of ministers of the state cabinet and the top officials of the district administration also paid their last respect to the body of the late minister after his body was brought to the secretariat on Monday.
