The BJP-led coalition government in Tripura is working to boost the tourism sector of the state and took several initiatives to attract more tourists from the state and abroad, said tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday.
Replying to the query of MLA Mailafru Mog here in the assembly session on Thursday, the minister informed that as of now a total of 41 modern log-huts were constructed in various tourist destinations of the state to attract more tourists. 10 more such log-huts will be constructed soon, he added.
State government has taken extensive initiatives to attract tourists to the state. As part of this initiative, a weekend tourist hub in front of the Ujjayant Palace, a light and sound show at the palace along with keeping the museum open for 365 days have been initiated, he said.
He further informed that the government has also constructed a helipad at Narikel Kunja, launched water scooters/ jet skis at Dumbur reservoir and paragliding services. A multifaceted plan has been adopted for the development of Mata Tripurasundari Temple under the ‘Prasad’ scheme of the Central government, he said, adding that with the aim of developing advanced tourist centers and increasing the attraction of tourists towards the tourist centers, a plan has been taken to beautify tourist centers like Unakoti, Chabimura, Kamalasagar, Chaturdas Devata Mandir etc.
