In a successful late-night operation, Tripura Police apprehended two individuals and seized Yaba Tablets worth Rs 23 lakh in Sonamura, a bordering village situated in the Sepahijala district of the state.
Officer-in-Charge Manik Debnath of Sonamura Police Station reported that acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at a market in Kulu Bari under Sonamura. Collaborating with other Tripura Police personnel and TSR jawans, they confiscated approximately 15,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Rs 23 lakh.
"During the raid, we apprehended two drug traffickers, Jasim Mia and Kabil Mia, and recovered 15,000 Yaba tablets from their possession. Additionally, we seized two vehicles utilized for drug smuggling. The suspects have been arrested and brought to the police station," stated the OC.
The police stated that the seized drugs are estimated to be valued at around Rs 23 lakh in the market.
The two youths have been charged under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, and their case will be presented before the court of the District and Sessions Judge in Sonamura.
