Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday called for inculcating patriotism among the youths of the present generation. He said that the purpose of observing National Youth Day is to awaken national consciousness and patriotism among the youth.
Tripura along with the rest of the nation on Friday observed National Youth Day to commemorate Vivekananda Jayanti. The state level function was held here at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister urged the youths of the start to refrain from drug addiction and contribute in nation building. He said that the youth community should play a leading role in creating public awareness against addiction and play a key role in building a society, state and a country.
“Every individual including the youths should follow the ideology of Swami Vivekananda. Vivekananda’s thoughts can inspire our country’s youth to contribute towards nation building,” he said, adding that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken steps to empower youths.
He said, “Moving in line with the government at the Centre, Tripura government is also working to empower youths apart from expanding quality education. Not only studies but sports also play an important role in the physical and mental development of young people.”
