New MLA Hostel will play key role in establishing good relations between legislature: CM

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Friday said that the newly constructed MLA hostel will play an important role in speeding up various developmental works and also will work in establishing good relations between the elected representatives.

The Chief Minister also directed to maintain the MLA hostel which is located adjacent to the Secretariat.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said this while participating in the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed MLA Hostel.

He said the need to build a self-contained MLA hostel in the state had arisen for a long time. Because the two existing MLA hostels are almost unlivable due to lack of proper maintenance.

"So the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government started considering this matter seriously before coming to power in the state. Then the construction of new MLA hostel has started by Pwd", said CM.

Criticizing the then left front government, the CM said, "During left front regime those who were in power were allowed to stay in a separate MLA hostels. And other oppositions used to stay in a separate hostel which eventually created a division among the legislatures. However, in this newly constructed MLA hostel, all the MLAs can stay which will awaken a sense of brotherhood among all the legislators of the government and the opposition", he said.

The Chief Minister urged everyone to keep the newly constructed MLA Hostel clean.

On this day, the chief minister and other Ministers and MLAs participated in the puja.

Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma, Chief Whip Kalyani Roy and other ministers, MLAs and top administration officials were present in the event.

More than 51 crore rupees have been spent on the construction of the newly constructed MLA hostel.

On this day, the chief minister handed over the keys of the newly constructed building to the legislators. It may be noted that the newly constructed MLA accommodation has accommodation for 45 MLAs.
