One Bangladeshi, four Rohingyas held from Agartala railway station

AGARTALA:

The joint team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Police Force (RPF) on Saturday apprehended at least 4 Rohingyas and 1 Bangladeshi national from Agartala Railway station.

The detained were identified by the police as Amit Hakim, Yasmin Akhter, Md. Tareq and Muhammadullah from Rohingya camps at Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi national was identified as Sukkur Ali from Comilla district of Bangladesh.

GRP in-charge Tapas Das informed that the detained had illegally crossed the border to enter the Indian territory without valid documents.

They were about to go to the major cities of Chennai, Hyderabad and Gujarat by train, he told reporters. He further informed that police is interrogating them thoroughly.
