One booked for threatening journalist in Khowai

AGARTALA:

A complaint has been lodged at the Khowai police station regarding the threat made to a journalist in Khowai.

According to reports, yesterday, on July 13, at approximately 11:30 PM, a young man named Debajyoti called journalist Pritam Tanti and issued severe threats. Debajyoti warned Tanti that he would face dire consequences if an allegedly inaccurate news report concerning him was not corrected. The threats included death threats and the use of derogatory language.

Today, Pritam shared the incident with fellow journalists and the matter was reported to the officials of the Tripura Working Journalists Association's Khowai branch. Pritam Tanti is known for his dedicated work within the organization. A five-member delegation met with Rajkumar Jamatia, the in-charge of the Khowai Police Station and apprised him of the situation.

The police have assured that they will investigate the matter. The Tripura Working Journalists Association's Khowai Divisional Committee has also notified the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the incident and demanded strict action to be taken.
