One held at Churaibari with 337 kg of cannabis worth Rs 50 lakh

AGARTALA:

Tripura Police on Wednesday arrested one person and seized cannabis worth Rs 50 lakh in the Churaibari check post in the North district.

Speaking with reporters, North district superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty said that they have received information that a truck was carrying a huge cache of cannabis from Agartala to Silchar in Assam.

“At a Churaibari checking point, we intercepted the truck and when we searched it, we seized 337 kgs of cannabis and we have filed a case with the Churaibari Police Station under the NDPS act. We have also arrested the driver of the vehicle identified as Jakir Hussein a resident of Assam”, said Chakraborty.
