One held with cannabis at Agartala Railway Station

AGARTALA:

Government Railway Police have achieved a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking with the seizure of 21 kilograms of cannabis at the Agartala Railway Station.

Acting on confidential information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a targeted raid at Badharghat resulting in the confiscation.

Tapas Das, the Officer-in-Charge of the GRP police station, explained that the operation was prompted by credible intelligence suggesting an attempt to smuggle the contraband out of Tripura by train. The raid not only led to the seizure of the cannabis but also the arrest of a suspect.

Initial investigations have revealed plans to transport the cannabis to Patna and Delhi for distribution.

The accused individual has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the police are seeking remand to proceed with legal actions.
