One held with heroin of Rs 25, 000

AGARTALA:

In a well-coordinated operation, the Amarpur Birganj police station achieved a significant victory in the war against drugs. Acting on credible information, the police carried out a raid on Monday night that resulted in the seizure of 8.9 grams of heroin from a house in the Shankar pally area of Amarpur town.

Led by Amarpur sub-divisional police officer Debanjali Roy, OC Jayanta Das of Birganj police station, and TSR, the team executed a meticulous plan to apprehend the suspects. Although the main accused, Pintu Das, managed to evade arrest, the police successfully apprehended his associate, Bappi Debnath, with 8.9 grams of heroin in his possession.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities also discovered 588 empty vials, indicative of the illicit drug trade's scope in the area. The estimated market value of the seized heroin is approximately Rs 25,000.
