The Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployed at Agartala Railway Station has seized Yaba tablets worth Rs 60 lakh and detained one person from the Lokmanya Tilak Express train, which arrived in Agartala from Mumbai late Wednesday night.
Speaking on the issue, BK Sinha, Assistant Commandant of RPF, said that the train was traveling from Mumbai to Agartala.
“When the Railway Protection Force was checking the train, we found a suspected person when the train reached Jirania Railway Station. During preliminary interrogation, when we asked him about the luggage he was carrying, he failed to provide proper answers. However, when we searched him based on suspicion, we seized Yaba tablets—around 200 packets—worth Rs 60 lakh. This is a big achievement for the RPF. We are conducting drives against such illegal activities,” he said.
The official further stated that the individual was identified as Habibul Rehman, a resident of Udaipur in the Gomati District.
“He said he was coming from Silchar and that someone had handed him this bag at Badarpur to deliver it in Agartala,” the official added.
