Organic queen pineapples of Sardukarkari village of Teliamura hit market of the country’s capital city Delhi. One thousand organic pineapples produced by Khaswrang Organic Producer Company Limited were sent to Delhi for the first time by SIMFED yesterday.
Each pineapple was bought at Rs. 15. These organic pineapples were cultivated for the first time in Khowai district under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER).
SIMFED is working as service provider which looks after export of these organic pineapples outside the state.
The Farmer Producer Company is getting assistance in different ways under MOVCD-NER by Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare department.
As a result, the farmers of Khaswrang Organic Producer Company Limited of Sardukarkari village of Teliamura agriculture sub-division came forward. They were provided with necessary assistance from the Teliamura agriculture sub-division. As a result, the farmers were further encouraged to grow pineapples.
Besides, Agriculture & Farmers’ department has taken initiative to market agro produce of those farmers who have been growing pineapples for a long time and were financially backward and hence make them become self-reliant financially.
SIMFED will procure pineapples grown by farmers of every district and export those to outside the state and abroad. SIMFED authority in-charge Jana Bikash Tripura informed that from now onwards SIMFED will take assisting role in sending pineapples to Delhi every week.
