In two separate operations, Tripura Police and BSF have eradicated cannabis plants numbering over 63,000 today in Mohanpur under West District and Belonia under South District.
In Mohanpur, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bijoy Sen led another anti-cannabis operation in the Arkata area under Sidhai Police Station today. Sidhai Police Station Second Officer-in charge Ratan Debbarma, Sub Inspector Anti Alam and a substantial number of police and TSR forces participated in the operation, resulting in the destruction of about 45,000 plants across 14 plots.
While the Border Security Force (BSF) in a series of continuous operations today, initiated actions against illegal Ganja cultivation. BSF in a joint operation with CRPF, Narcotics Control Bureau, Tripura Police and the Forest Department, destroyed approximately 18,000 immature Ganja plants being cultivated illegally in the general area of Hataliya under Police Station PR Bari in Belonia sub-division.
Approximately 4.5 acres of land have been cleared through cutting, uprooting, and burning of the plants. This season, a total of 5,47,900 plants have been destroyed in different parts of the state and many acres of forest land have been reclaimed. BSF's persistent and concerted efforts in close coordination with sister agencies are expected to bring about a positive change in society.
