The Tripura Police and BSF in three separate operations have destroyed over 80, 000 cannabis plants in three locations of the state.
As per information today a special drive on ganja destruction was carried out by Kumarghat SDPO Kamal Debbarma, Dy SP (Prob) Utpalendu Debnath, Pecharthal Police Station officer and Staff and 8 Battalion TSR personal at Ramdula para forest reserve area and destroyed and burned approx 20,000 (Twenty Thousand) matured Ganja plants in 08 plot.
Earlier this month more such drives were carried out where approximately 18000 matured ganja plants were destroyed under Pecharthal PS area of Unakoti District. More such enforcement drives will be conducted soon. Actions are aimed to curb the menace of drugs from the society..
While, Border Security Force, Tripura Frontier is carrying out series of joint operations against illegal cultivation of Ganja. In joint operation on 18 December BSF troops of Tripura Frontier along with NCB, TSR, Tripura Police and Excise department destroyed approx 31,500 immature Ganja plants in general area of Village Gajeria and Ganiyamara under Police Station Bishalgarh. 15 acres (approx) of land BSF troops has been cleared by cutting, uprooting and burning of the ganja plants.
In another operation today BSF troops along with PS Kalamchoura also destroyed approx. 30,000 immature Ganja plants in general area of Village South Kalamchoura under PS Kalamchoura and cleared approx 18 acres.
This season till date total 6,09,400 plants in Tripura mostly in Sepahijala district, has been destroyed .
