Parents lock school protesting crisis of teacher at Khowai

AGARTALA:

In a dramatic turn of events, the Biplabi Surya Sen Junior Basic School in Khowai found itself at the center of a controversy today as furious parents locked the school gates in protest against the acute shortage of primary teachers.

The scarcity of educators has not only affected the school's daily operations but has also led to an alarming increase in student-to-teacher ratios. The school, comprised of 70 students, is currently managed by only one teacher who is responsible for teaching two subjects daily. The imminent student examinations, scheduled to begin on January 10, have exacerbated the situation.

Adding to the turmoil, the school's headmaster has been transferred, leaving administrative duties in disarray.

This morning, fed-up parents took matters into their own hands and barricaded the school entrance, demanding the swift appointment of additional teachers to address the critical shortage.

The visibly agitated parents expressed their concerns about the impact on their children's education and the overall functioning of the school. News of the protest quickly reached high-ranking government officials and teachers, prompting a rapid response.

Government representatives and educators rushed to the scene, assuring the protesting parents that immediate steps would be taken to rectify the teacher shortage issue.

In response to the assurances from the authorities, the parents decided to withdraw their blockade, trusting that the government would take swift action to resolve the problem.
