The residents of Jampui Hill came together in an extraordinary act of solidarity, collecting Rs 82,220 to donate to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the flood affected victims.
The contribution was presented to Debapriya Bardhan, IAS District Magistrate & Collector of North Tripura, during his inauguration of a Seminar cum Mock Drill on Disaster Management Capacity Building and the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" Plantation Drive at Eden Lodge, Vanghmun, Jampui Hill.
The donation, handed over via a cheque, was accompanied by a heartfelt letter from the Mizo Convention leaders, President JD Mawia and General Secretary Zairemthiama Pachuau.
The letter emphasized that while the amount may be modest, it symbolizes the deep empathy and goodwill of Jampui Hill's residents towards the disaster-affected communities across the state.
"We hope this humble gesture meets the needs of those suffering in some meaningful way," the letter read, reflecting the collective concern of the hill's households.
During the event, the Mizo Convention leaders also raised two critical issues with the DM: the disaster-affected Tlaksih village and the stalled construction of the Tlaksih to Chhimluang segment of NH44A. In response, the DM assured that technical study results on Tlaksih village had been received and remedial actions would follow soon. Additionally, he informed that the contract with the previous agency responsible for the NH44A construction had been terminated, and a new agency was engaged to resume work promptly.
