In an alarming escalation of the ongoing wild elephant infestation, residents of Chakmaghat Subhashnagar area, particularly Anita Das Sarkar, find themselves grappling with the devastating consequences of another elephant rampage.
Anita Das Sarkar, a resident of Chakmaghat Subhashnagar, has lodged a formal complaint with the government, highlighting the daily ordeal faced by villagers due to the increasing aggression of wild elephants. The latest incident occurred late on Friday when a group of wild elephants invaded the village, causing extensive damage to homes and instilling fear among the residents.
Despite multiple notifications to the forest department staff, the villagers claim that their pleas for assistance have fallen on deaf ears. Allegedly, no concrete steps have been taken to address the persistent issue, leaving residents feeling abandoned and vulnerable.
Anita Das Sarkar expressed frustration, stating, "We are living in constant fear, with wild elephants wreaking havoc on our homes and lives. Despite our repeated appeals to the forest department, the situation continues to worsen, and no help has been forthcoming from the government."
The affected villagers are now urging the government to take immediate action to mitigate the escalating human-elephant conflict in the region. They seek enhanced efforts from the forest department to implement measures that would prevent further incursions into residential areas.
