The Union Minister for renewable energy Prahlad Joshi on Sunday visited the renewable energy plant in Charilam block in Sepahijala district of the state and interacted with the local beneficiaries.
He reviewed the implementation of key schemes pertaining to the renewable energy sector and said that the initiative under the PM-Kusum scheme have resulted in double cropping and doubling farmers' incomes in the region.
He advised the local administration to undertake awareness initiative so that more people can benefit from these schemes.
The Union Minister inspected the 27 SPV Pumps installed under the PM-Kusum Scheme, 35 SPV Street Lighting Systems, and also interacted with beneficiaries to take their feedback on further improving the scheme implementation.
“The scheme is empowering everyone with solar energy – ensuring reliable water, reducing electricity costs, and boosting incomes,” he said, adding that the scheme is ensuring steady water and reduced electricity costs.
He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given utmost importance to agriculture and agriculture related sectors in the economic development of the country. So various measures have been taken to double the income of the farmers.”
“The development of rural areas will accelerate only if the farmers are self-reliant. With the help of the central government, Tripura has progressed a lot in the field of agriculture,” he added.
