The union ministries of Social Justice and Empowerment and ALIMCO have provided various aids and assistive among 689 ‘Divyangjan’ people of West Tripura district worth Rs 59 lakh.
Addressing the distribution ceremony at Agartala Town Hall, union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said “Divyangjans have an equal role to play in building a strong nation as normal people like us. Without them, the development of the country cannot be complete. Our country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to specifically realize this. The Prime Minister gave them an honourable name in the society called Divyangjan and said that Divyangjans’ are an important part of the society. Proper development of any society is not possible if they are neglected. So he has announced various projects for their development and is also implementing them.”
She said, “Today, mobility equipment is being distributed among 689 Divyangjans of West Tripura district in the Social Empowerment Camp here. There is a special joy in being able to do something for them by distributing this content. He said that our government is thinking more advanced ideas on how to make the living standards of Divyangjans easier and simpler and implementing them. The government has also provided training in various schemes for the development of Divyangjans and development of their talent. For their convenience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also ordered provision of ramps and lifts in government offices in all states of the country. It has already been implemented in all the states of the country including our state. Divyangjans across the country have also arranged their unique certificates so that they can enjoy special benefits.”
