In a major breakthrough, the East Agartala police have apprehended eight notorious thieves, following a series of thefts in the city. The arrest comes after an intense investigation by the police, sparked by a daring attack on the ward office of Agartala Municipal Corporation at Jackson Gate on September 6.
Sadar SDPO Debaprasad Roy, speaking about the operation, highlighted that the arrests would likely lead to crucial revelations about the workings of the gang. "If these individuals are interrogated thoroughly, we expect to uncover significant information regarding other members of the gang and their operations across the region," he stated.
The theft at the AMC office led to a written complaint being lodged at the East Agartala police station.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation, which eventually resulted in the arrest of Sunil Debbarma, one of the key members of the gang. During his interrogation, he revealed information about his accomplices, leading to the capture of six more individuals involved in the gang.
After vigorous questioning at the police station, two additional members of the gang were also apprehended. The arrested individuals will be presented before the court today, with the police seeking remand for further interrogation.
The arrests mark a significant success for the East Agartala police, as they continue their efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of the community.
