Police destroyed cannabis plantation in Sepahijala worth Rs 520 crore in 2023

AGARTALA:

In a massive war against illegal cannabis plantation, the Tripura Police in Sepahijala District under the leadership of its Superintendent of Police, B Reddy has destroyed cannabis plantation worth Rs 520 crore in 2023.

Sepahijala district is a crucial part of the state as this district shares a large portion of international border with neighboring Bangladesh.

Police sources said that as a part of Nesha Mukht Tripura and to fight against illegal Ganja plantation, Sepahijala District Police along with coordinated effort of TSR, BSF and CRPF and other sister agencies conducted a continuous destruction of illegal Ganja cultivation in the district and destroyed around 48 lakh Ganja plants in the month of December 2023 and around 61 lakh in the entire year worth approximately Rs 520 crores

“Sepahijala District Police urges and advises people not to be involved in such illegal activities. Public are requested to help police in making the state a drugs free society and realise the CM's vision of Nesha Mukht Tripura”, the police said.
