Police seize Rs 90 lakh while probing alleges gang rape

AGARTALA:

Tripura Police have seized Rs 90 lakh while investigating the alleged gang rape that has took place two days back in Agartala.

Police sources said that on 10th May an allegation of rape of one woman was reported at Amtali Police Station under West District. On receiving the complaint Police has immediately registered a specific case against the accused persons vide Amtali PS Case No.71/2023, dated 10th May under appropriate sections of law and took up its investigation.

As per stipulated norms so far all necessary legal steps have been taken including medical check up of the victim.

“During investigation so far police has arrested two accused persons. During raid the involved vehicle and Indian currency amounting Rs.90 lacs have been seized from the house of one of the accused persons”, said Police.

In this connection, additional special teams have been formed and raids are going on in various parts of the State to nab the involved accused persons and to gather more evidences by using scientific aids. The investigation of the case is in progress.

16th Finance Commission team to visit Tripura on Jan 29

The 16th Finance Commission headed by Chairman Arvind Panagariya would hold a series of meetings simultaneously with the Tripura government and various stakeholders such as political parties, rural and urban local bodies, and representatives of trade, Industries, and Commerce here during its four-day visit to the state from Wednesday, an official said.
