The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday claimed that political terror in the state of Tripura has ended completely under the rule of BJP.
“Once there was a rule of terror in Tripura which ended during the 2018 assembly election after the BJP formed government in Tripura. The double-engine government has ended the long pending problem of the Brus, BJP has ended the clutches of NLFT and worked to build a new Tripura,” he claimed.
Himanta was addressing a party’s poll campaign here at Agartala Banamalipur in support of the party candidate Rajib Bhattacharjee.
He said, “If the CPI(M) is voted to power again they would undoubtedly perpetrate violence and resume its’ rule of terror in the state. People of Tripura want a peaceful atmosphere to continue for more development.”
He appealed to the voters not to let the "days of bloodshed" return to the northeastern state.
“It was the BJP government which wanted to pass the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) in the central parliament so that the Hindus and Bengalis get justice, but who opposed it was the Congress and CPI(M), who never wanted justice for the Hindus. Today many Hindus and Bengalis in Assam, Tripura and West Bengal are deprived of their citizenship. The Congress and the CPI(M) are responsible for injustice to them,” he said.
Meanwhile, taking a jibe at TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma on Friday, the Assam Chief Minister and also the NEDA chairman Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “We thought of forging alliance with the TIPRA Motha for the development of the state, but then we refused to move further as the TIPRA Motha wants division of Tripura.”
“We had a long discussion in Guwahati and even in Delhi in the recent past, where we strictly said that BJP wants to form a government in Tripura not by dividing the state. The TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot demanded Greater Tipraland. And we refused to do so,” he added.
He said, “I want to make it clear that Tripura will be one state and will work for the development of Tripura.”
