To mitigate the issues related to power supply here in the capital town of Agartala, the state power department has launched a new separate toll-free number.
Addressing a press conference here in his office chamber at the Secretariat on Sunday, the minister said that apart from the call center number 1912, the department has also launched WhatsApp number (9863596081), Vidyutbandhu app, website (www.tsecl.in) etc. to solve various problems related to electricity.
The power minister also said that the highest electricity consumption in the state is in the Agartala city area. A new toll free number 6033132082 has been launched from Sunday to solve various electricity related issues here in Agartala.
Along with 1912 number, customers will also get 24 hours service through this number, he said, adding that consumers of Banmalipur, Bordowali, IGM, Jogendranagar, Pratapgarh, Amtali, Sekerkot, GB, Capital Complex and Durjoynagar Electricity Division of Agartala Circle No. 1 will get this benefit.
He said, “Even though there is no load shedding in the state, there are occasional power cuts. Due to excessive heat wave this year, consumers have increased the use of refrigerators and ACs. But in the case of AC usage, it appears that consumers are not informing the power department about this. As a result, transformers or various electrical devices are damaged due to excess power load and power cuts are occurring.”
The minister urged upon the consumers to use the ACs with prior permission from the department so that the power consumption may be maintained to restrict power cuts.
