The state power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday chaired a meeting with the officials of the department, TSECL and other stakeholders to review status of pre-puja maintenance work and said that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming festive season.
“The forthcoming festive season which continues practically till Diwali would see a hike in demand for power, and we have tried to ensure that there is no interruption in supply,” he told reporters.
He said, “The authority of the TSECL was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming festive season. I have given the necessary instructions to purchase power from outside the state for additional power supply if required.”
“On certain days during the pujas, demand is expected to rise up to 380 megawatt (MW),” he said, adding that arrangements were made to meet the expected target of 380 MW of power during the puja days, but presently there is a stock of 300.30MW of power.
He said, “We have also talked to the Bangladesh government regarding the power supply that we have been exporting to them and we said that we shall export less power this festive season.”
“Meanwhile, we got a green signal from the Rokhia power generation unit, but still some works remained pending, which shall be cleared during a meeting with the Union power minister in Delhi. If the Rokhia unit is opened, then we shall have adequate power for this festive season,” he said.
The minister also urged all puja organizers to inform the Corporation in advance of the amount of load required for them during the puja days. He also urged to prevent power pilferage in the puja pandals.
