Pradyot alleges of ADC crisis; seeks Governor’s intervention over approving pending bills of TTAADC

AGARTALA:

The opposition TIPRA Motha party led by the chief Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman demanded approval of the bills of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and sought the intervention of the Governor.

The Motha party led by Pradyot and the MLAs on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Tripura seeking his intervention to ensure smooth functioning of the TTAADC.

The Motha’s memorandum accused the BJP government in Tripura and stated, “is facing unceasing step motherly treatment by the State Government of Tripura.”

“Today, the indigenous people of Tripura are being forced to live like second-class citizens in their motherland. The indigenous people of Tripura deserve to live with dignity, peace, and prosperity, but unfortunately, the sheer negligence of the state administration has led to unrest among the people,” it stated.

The memorandum to the Governor further stated, “Out of the total Rs. 619.25 Cr. fund allocated to the TTAADC for the last financial year i.e FY 2022- 23, Rs. 126.59 Cr. is yet to be released by the State Govt. This has resulted in a delay in the disbursement of staff salaries and other development activities. For the current financial year i.e. FY 2023-24, to date a total sum of only about Rs. 4.24 Cr has been allocated for the developmental works.”

The TIPRA Motha also expressed concern over the delay of the Village Council elections and stated, “The Village Council election which was originally scheduled to take place in March 2021 is being delayed even after the clear directions of the Hon'ble High Court of Tripura. This too has severely affected the developmental works in TTAADC areas.”

Meanwhile, the Motha chief Pradyot on Friday took on to his social media handle to express concern over the role of the office of Governor and stated, “For past many months we were seeking Hon’ble Governor’s appointment to discuss some grave issues concerning the indigenous people of the state but for some reasons best known to him and his office we weren’t given any appointment.”

“Today, our elected representatives Hon’ble CEM, MLAs, EMs and MDCs weren’t even allowed to enter the Raj Bhavan to submit our memorandum,” he alleged.

A delegation of the elected TTAADC members reached the Tripura Raj Bhavan to submit a written memorandum to Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, highlighting the problems of TTAADC. The Governor, however, is learnt to have refused to meet the TTAADC delegation as he has not been keeping well.
