In a move, to provide better health care to people living in far-flung areas of Tripura, Royal scion and Chairman of TIPRA Motha on Tuesday flagged off five mobile medical unit vans.
These mobile medical units will travel in rural areas and would provide treatment for eyes, cancers, ECG, malaria, and dengue screening and etc.
Speaking with reporters, Pradyot said when TIPRA Motha came into Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, health was a big issue and there was a crisis of funds.
“But we somehow managed funds and tied up with Apollo hospital. In Kherengbar hospital we have a unit of Apollo where more than 1800 persons were treated. We have decided to provide health care in rural areas where there is no hospital and people can’t travel because of poverty. So with Apollo we have launched the mobile medical van ‘Swastha Vahan’ he said.
He said these vehicles have all facilities including doctors, lab, and nurses will be available. Basic medicines will be provided free of cost.
“There are many people who are afraid of coming into the city so this vehicle will help. In this vehicle, we have early detection of cancer, eye testing, and ECG is also present. First, we started with one mobile medical unit van and set up more than 1000 health camps across the state, and later we decided to launch five more. Among these five, two had already left for the South district, North district, and Unakoti district. In Dhalai, Gomati, and Khowai districts rest of the vehicles will be launched. If we come into power more such vehicles will be launched”, said Pradyot.
