Pradyot slams CPIM for opposing to Tipra Motha's strike

AGARTALA:

Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, former Chairman of TIPRA Motha, strongly criticized the CPIM on Monday for their stance against the bandh called by Tipra Motha in pursuit of a constitutional resolution for the indigenous people of Tripura.

Pradyot vehemently rebuked the CPIM, asserting that their prolonged rule in the state had only brought about impoverishment for the indigenous populace of Tripura.

"While Tipra Motha rallied for a strike on September 30, the CPIM vehemently protested against it. During the elections, they urged us not to field candidates for the sake of opposition unity. Yet, when we advocate for the rights of our indigenous people, the CPIM convenes a press conference to denounce the bandh. Are they content to see us subservient? Do they wish to suppress us? We will engage with Delhi in pursuit of our rights, unwavering in our resolve. The CPIM may perceive our struggle as political, but it transcends mere politics. This is a battle for the future and the legacy we leave for our succeeding generations," declared Pradyot.

He emphasized that the CPIM's extended tenure in governance had led to neglect of the indigenous population.

"What have we gained? Poverty, a dearth of teachers in our schools and a refusal to permit examinations in Kokborok. They toyed with our sentiments. Now, when we seek assistance from the police, our pleas fall on deaf ears. We possess nominal authority, but lack genuine influence, as is the case in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya. It is because of the CPIM that we find ourselves powerless. They have stripped the indigenous people of this state of their rightful agency. We will speak with one resounding voice to send a resolute message to Delhi. If the CPIM chooses to stand in opposition, so be it. I will demonstrate who the true force is," asserted Debbarma.
