In a significant development the prime suspect of the Baldakhal Nandu Sarkar mob lynching case was detained on Wednesday.
Police earlier detained three youths in connection with the June 29 case, where a 40 years old Nandu Sarkar, resident of Agartala Baldakhal area was lynched to death in a broad day light in suspicious of cow lifter. The prime suspect identified as Biplab Das remained absconding after the incident.
Police said that although the main intention behind the killing case was not known, but as of now four youths were detained in connection with the case.
The incident took place after a group of people detained 40 years old identified as Nandu Sarkar on suspicion of cattle lifter and tied him to a pole to beat him severely.
Alarmed by the incident, police of Budjungnagar police station rushed to spot and rescued sarkar, who sustained severe injuries. Later on the way to the GB hospital he died, said police.
