Rain showers brings relief from the scorching heat wave in state

AGARTALA:

Heavy showers along with thunderstorm brought some respite to people from the scorching heat in the state as the mercury dipped by a few notches today.

The ongoing heat waves across Tripura badly this year due to a sudden surge of both minimum and maximum temperatures about 6 degrees above than normal temperatures.

Sources from the IMD department have said that in the Northeast region, the highest temperature is in Tripura followed by Guwahati in Assam, and informed that in the coming day this trend will continue.

Today the state received rains, bringing some respite from the persistent heat wave conditions. The maximum temperature settled at 35.3 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The IMD officials said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur in the state in coming days too.

The IMD officials also said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over all districts of Tripura and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over Gomati, Sepahijala and West District.
