Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath underscored the imperative role of political parties working collaboratively to drive development.
Minister Nath emphasized that the support and cooperation of all political parties are indispensable for the progress of the agricultural sector.
He asserted that the key to achieving self-reliance lies in the improvement of agricultural land, urging sustained efforts in this direction.
He particularly highlighted the need for concerted actions in 12 blocks, including Tulashikhar, Damchara, Dasda, Raishyabari, Mungiakami, Dumburnagar, Rupaichari, Shilachari, Ganganagar, Ompi and Chawmanu.
Nath envisioned 'Ek Tripura Srestha Tripura' emerging if these blocks witness substantial improvement.
The minister specified that priority should be given to the departments of education, health, agriculture, electricity, livestock, and fisheries in these identified blocks. He emphasized that these efforts are crucial for the overall development and self-reliance of the region.
Providing statistical insights, Minister Nath disclosed that Tulasikhar Agricultural Sub-division possesses a total of 1 lakh 43 thousand 281 kani land, with 68881 kani designated as forest land. Notably, the cultivable land is limited to 35788 Kanis. He urged concerted efforts on the 35,000 kani of cultivable land to achieve self-reliance.
Furthermore, he shared agricultural statistics, stating that there are 5823 farmers in Tulashikhar, with 3200 people holding land titles. Minister Nath stressed that the focus should be on improving the 35,000 kani of cultivable land to empower the farming community.
In conclusion, Minister Nath highlighted the positive trajectory in food grain production, citing an increase from 2665 kg per hectare in 2018 to 2949 kg over the last 5 years in Khowai district. This progress signifies the potential for further advancements in agricultural productivity and self-sufficiency in the region.
