Tripura government on Thursday claimed that the process of resettlement of a total 6302 Bru families is progressing fast.
Addressing a press conference here at the conference hall of the civil secretariat, the Principal Secretary of state Revenue department Punit Agarwal said that according to the quadripartite agreement, 11 places have been identified for resettlement of 6,302 Bru families in the state.
“So far Bru refugee families are being shifted to resettlement sites identified as per their choice and construction of 3,249 houses has already been completed for their accommodation,” he said, adding that financial assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh has been given to the resettled Bru refugee families in three equal installments for the construction of houses.
He said, “Certificates such as RR, Ration Card, Aadhaar Card, ST Certificate, PRTC, MGNREGA Job Card, Voter Card etc. have been issued among the resettled Blue Refugee families.”
Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary said that the Bill 'The Indian Stamp (Tripura 6th Amendment) Act, 2023' has been passed in the recently concluded Legislative Assembly session. He said that this bill has been passed for the purpose of empowering women and for their convenience. The Chief Secretary mentioned that this law will come into effect in the state with the consent of the Governor.
