Scientific method can revive orange cultivation in Tripura: Minister Ratan Lal Nath

The state agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday inaugurated the state level orange festival at Killa in Gomati district of the state and said that the government has taken initiative to revive and enhance orange cultivation in the state through scientific method.

He said that 3729 hectares of land across the state has been brought to grow orange cultivation, which yielded 14774 MT of organises annually.

Now jackfruit, pineapple, ginger, wood apple (bel), and tamarind of the state are being exported abroad, Nath said, adding that the government has taken initiatives to make every family financially independent.

In the event, MLA Rampada Jamatia said that 250 kani of land will be brought under orange cultivation in Killa area. Initiatives have been taken for infrastructural development by renovating roads in block areas.

MLA Abhishek Deb Rai said there is ample opportunity to make the unemployed youth of the state self-reliant through agriculture. He said that this state-wide orange festival was organized to encourage the orange growers of the state including the orange growers of Killa area.
