Showers bring respite from heat in Tripura, Yellow alert issued

AGARTALA:

After days of oppressive heat, a sudden spell of rain swept across Tripura on Wednesday afternoon, offering much-needed relief to residents. The rainfall comes as the Meteorological Department issues a yellow alert for the next three days.

The temperature, which had been hovering around 35 degrees Celsius, is now expected to drop by 3 to 4 degrees in the coming 2-3 days, according to the Meteorological Centre in Agartala. No significant change in temperature is expected beyond that period.

The forecast warns of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thundershowers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. The alert has been sounded for North Tripura, Unokoti, Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, and several other districts.
