In a significant step toward equipping the state's youth with industry-relevant skills, fostering employability, and encouraging entrepreneurship, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday launched Skill Uday Tongnai. The name "Skill-Uday Tongnai" combines English, Bengali, and Kokborok, representing a new dawn of opportunities for the youth.
This ambitious skill development initiative is designed to empower 80,000 students from schools and colleges across Tripura in the coming days, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. Addressing the gathering in the launching programme, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of skilling initiatives in fostering Tripura’s growth. “This program will not only create employability but also drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the state,” he remarked during the launch event.
Dr Saha said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Act East Policy for the development of the North Eastern region. Tripura has witnessed a massive transformation in the key sectors of road, rail, air and internet services.” PM Modi has always laid emphasis on practical knowledge through skill development, so that the youths of the country can become fully active in building a prosperous and self-reliant country, he added.
Meanwhile, the state Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma addressed the gathering and said that the government has launched this program to make the youths of the state self-reliant. She expressed hope that the program will play a significant role in building ‘Ek Tripura Srestha Tripura’.
