The former captain of Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly on Monday landed here at Agartala and signed an agreement to promote Tripura Tourism as a brand ambassador.
Addressing a press conference from Tripura's iconic Ujjayanta Palace, Ganguly called for a collective effort to depict Tripura tourism globally and said, “Being a brand ambassador of Tripura Tourism is an emotion for me. I as a brand ambassador along with the Tripura Tourism and the government of Tripura will work diligently to promote the tourism of the state globally.”
“In addition to the promotion of this ‘sundari’ city and ‘sundari’ state of Tripura, I will also work to promote cricket in Tripura, which is very near to me. I will help the Tripura government if necessary for the development of cricket in Tripura,” he told reporters.
He emphasized on early completion of the construction of the cricket stadium here at Agartala, which is presently under construction and said, “If international cricket can take place in the neighbouring Assam and Guwahati, why not in Tripura? Tripura has a huge potential to grow as the state is equipped with beautiful hotels and a beautiful city.”
Meanwhile, the state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Tripura has an adequate potential for the development of the tourism sector and the tourism sector of the state will further develop under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly, who is now a brand ambassador of Tripura Tourism.
Sourav Ganguly is scheduled to shoot promotional videos for Tripura Tourism here in the state on December 12 and later he will leave for Kolkata.
